The British Newspaper Archive

Project to digitise newspapers held by the British Library, in partnership with brightsolid. The site offers a free search facility, but articles are available only to subscribers. There are no plans to make the collection available through other libraries or educational institutions. At its launch in November 2011, by comparison with the existing 19th Century British Library Newspapers collection, the new database appeared to contain all the articles in the older collection, and around 10% more material from the 1880s and 1890s (with significant coverage extending to 1903), with around 35% more material from the mid-19th century.
