Stephen Longhurst
From Jack the Ripper Wiki
Witness at Frances Coles' inquest.
Born c.1854 in Arundel, Sussex[1]. Manager of a coffee shop at 73 Whitechapel Road.
Appearing at the fourth day of the Coles inquest, he said that he noticed a man in his shop at about 7.30am, 13th February 1891, later identifying him as James Sadler.
According to Longhurst, Sadler's clothes were dirty and he appeared drunk. He left the shop at 8.30am.
This testimony appears to differ from that of fellow witness (and employee of the coffee house) Charles Littlewood who said that Sadler did not appear drunk and that he was in the shop from 6.30am to 7.30am, a full hour earlier.[2]
